Take it off, shake it a couple of times in the air, and put it back on your head: it will dry with your body heat, keeping the insulation intact.

No Fabric Softener! (How to Wash Merino): Maximum attention to washing! Merino wool is formidable but delicate. Always wash it cold (max 30°C) with a specific wool detergent. Never use fabric softener! Fabric softener coats the natural fibers with a chemical patina that forever destroys their ability to expel sweat and thermoregulate. Also avoid the dryer: let it dry flat on a towel, away from lit radiators.
