The Set of 20 Gear Shims 0.20mm (Diameter 3mm) by NGA (Neo Genesis Airsoft) represents the fundamental basis for any precision mechanical work. Made of hardened stainless steel via CNC laser cutting, they are virtually indestructible and immune to rust. Thanks to the total deburring process that eliminates friction and the micrometric tolerances of +/- 0.005mm, the 0.20mm size is the perfect starting point for bridging large axial play with few shims, ensuring a solid setup and impeccable sound.

The Foundations of Shimming (0.20mm Size):
Every self-respecting mechanical preparation starts from solid foundations. The 0.20mm gauge is the "load-bearing shim" par excellence: it is the first shim that is inserted on the gear shafts to lift them from the Gearbox shell or to quickly fill the most obvious axial gaps. Using quality shims of greater thickness to fill large axial gaps ensures that the gear rotates straight, avoiding the creation of unstable "towers" made of dozens of microscopic shims. This 20-piece NGA set provides you with the ideal supply to start any job on the right foot.
Top Class Materials (Hardened Stainless Steel):
Under stress, old brass shims tend to crush and deform, ruining the work done. NGA solves the problem at the root by using pure hardened stainless steel cut with a CNC Laser. This alloy does not yield, does not bend and does not rust in contact with grease. Furthermore, the meticulous surface deburring removes every single cutting imperfection: the shims will slide smoothly on bushings and bearings, drastically reducing thermal friction and motor absorption.
The Rule of "Less is More": A golden rule of professional tuners is to use the fewest possible number of shims on a single axis. If you have a gap of 0.40mm, DO NOT put four 0.10mm shims! Put two of these 0.20mm ones. The fewer shims there are on the shaft, the less mutual friction, grease stagnation and the risk of them becoming misaligned at high ROF. The 0.20mm is your main building block!
The Spur Gear Lift: The spur gear often has a very wide belly that risks rubbing against the Gearbox shell. One or two 0.20mm shims placed at the base of the spur gear are the perfect standard move to lift it safely, guaranteeing it the vital space to rotate free from impediments.
Perfect Sums: Thanks to the hundredth of a millimeter tolerances guaranteed by NGA's Laser cutting, you can add the shims without fear. A 0.20mm shim combined with a 0.10mm one will give you a perfect 0.30mm. Having the three main NGA gauges (0.10, 0.15 and 0.20) on the workbench makes you capable of tackling any Gearbox on the market, closing it perfectly.
