Pro Maintenance Tips for a Perfect Setup
The importance of the top Velcro: Many wonder what that small square of Velcro on top of the head is for. In Mil-Sim night games, it is vitally important: it is used to apply IR (Infrared) markers or small reflective/luminescent pads (like "cat eyes"). In this way, your teammates positioned higher up or equipped with night vision goggles (NVG) will immediately recognize you as "friend", avoiding unpleasant incidents of friendly fire!
Perfect for hot weather: If you are particularly sensitive to heat or have sensitive forehead skin that easily gets irritated by rubbing against nylon or polyester (typical of very rigid synthetic rip-stop caps), this 100% cotton is your salvation. It's like wearing your favorite t-shirt on your head, soft from the first use.
Washing Instructions (Golden Rule of Cotton): I will remind you until exhaustion! Pure cotton, if washed in water that is too hot, shrinks inexorably. Never put it in the washing machine at 60 degrees and forget about the dryer! Wash it by hand in lukewarm water (maximum 30 degrees) with a neutral soap and a soft brush if dirty with mud. Rinse it and let it dry in the shade, lying flat: the visor will maintain its perfect curvature and the cap will not lose half a size.
